Being a journalist means in many countries working under great danger. Every year dozens of journalists are killed while doing their job. Every year hundreds of journalists worldwide are imprisoned and prosecuted because of their investigative work. Only in a few spectacular cases the public learns about their fate.
We seldom hear about the desperation of their families.
The independent, non-profit organization Journalists help Journalists (JhJ) was founded in Munich in Germany in 1993.
Born out of solidarity, it aims to help colleagues in need and their families in a swift and non-bureaucratic way. JhJ helps with donations of money, goods and practical support where it perceives a need and no official side is offering assistance.
